Great foundation for making profound changes in life!
Simple understanding of how we get the results we get in life and how we can change those results if we choose to do so. The simplicity of the language inclusion process and ease of understanding makes this book a joy to read. Should be a must read for anyone who works with people!

I will make sure everyone at my company reads this book!
I have the audio tape of The Road to Optimism and Dr. Perry's Language Inclusion Process really works. It has changed my entire outlook and my company is flourishing because of it.

Saved Race (Payton Sky Series, 3)

da bomb
This is great book. I got finished reading it in three hours!!! Let me tell you;I could not put that book down. I can't wait untill I get "The Sweetest Gift". "Staying Pure","Sober Faith",and "The Saved Race", are all very exciting books for young teens of any race.I understand Payton and her way of thinking, the experiences that she goes through can relate with every day life.

What a way to wrap up an amazing year for Payton!
I bought all three books at a conference and planned to put them away for my daughters for when they are in junior high & high school. I decided to preview them and couldn't put them down. All three books tie in together so well and the characters are great. I think everyone who reads them will know of a person who is similar to someone in here. The messages delivered through the characters are great and this one tackles a few common problems people face today like racism. I pray God introduces a Tad Taylor into my daughter's life when she starts dating! Share it with a young adult that you care about. It's a great way to reach out to them and to let them know God is in their life and will never let them down.

Statistics Explained: A Guide for Social Science Students
Published in Library Binding by Routledge (June, 1995)
Author: Perry R. Hinton
Average review score:

Superb!
This is the finest introduction to inferential statistics I've come across. It's highly readable without being simplistic. Perhaps some readers will want more detail, particularly about descriptive statistics. If so, I recommend Joseph Tal's book Reading Between The Numbers: Statistical Thinking in Everyday Life.
A few minor complaints about Hinton's book: he neglected to include a chapter on the use of statistics in educational testing. Such a chapter would have included information about various types of reliability and validity, and test-item discrimination and difficulty. Also missing is a discussion about factor analysis.
But these are relatively minor criticisms. Hinton's book is still an excellent text to use before tackling more thorough (and probably less readable) sources.

This is what explanations are supposed to be like.
This lovely book provides a consistently straightforward and easily accessible explanation of statistics. The book takes the reader through basic concepts in a de-mystifying way, providing the intuition that got lost in the mathematics when I took statistics in college. The book strikes an excellent balance between substance and simplicity in going through the basic ideas and the math behind them, providing a role model for first explanations of substantive topics. It's nice to read a book that sticks to its task of helping the reader understand a subject broadly and thoroughly without the author seeming to be trying to impress the reader with how much he or she knows.

An outstanding bi-lingual anthology of poetry.
They Dream, They Cry, They Sing is an outstanding anthology of Spanish/English bilingual poems that will please students and adults wanting to hone their linguistic skills and enjoy the wonderful word-play in both languages that this superb collection offers. Moonrise: When the moon comes up/bells fade away/and hidden pathways/return./When the moon comes up/the sea covers the earth/and your heart seems/an island in space./No one eats oranges/beneath the full moon./You have to eat green and icy fruit./When the moon comes up/with a hundred identical faces/silver coins/in your pockets sob. Summertime Treats: Recipes and Crafts for the Whole Family
Published in Paperback by Chronicle Books (May, 1999)
Authors: Sara Perry and Jonelle Weaver
Average review score:

do-able craft ideas
Many fun ideas for crafts that don't require Martha Stewart skills. Made the cookie cutter soaps with my girlfriends and had a great time. Plan on making the vacation placemat this summer on vacation. The food also looks great. The picture of the black bean and salsa salad made my mouth water in the store. I will be making that soon. Also appreciate the adult versions of thirst quenching recipes. Instructions and ideas are basic and that's just what I need.

I JUST LOVE THIS BIG BEAUTIFUL BOOK!
I GOT THIS BOOK OUT OF THE LIBRARY, AND JUST HAD TO HAVE A COPY OF MY OWN. THIS BOOK BRINGS ALL OF THE FUN OF CHILDHOOD AND SUMMER BACK TO US PARENTS, SO WE CAN MAKE MEMORIES FOR OUR CHILDREN.THE PICTURES ARE BRIGHT AND BEAUTIFUL TO LOOK AT, AND THE INSTRUCTIONS EASY TO FOLLOW. THIS IS A FUN BOOK FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY. I WHOLEHEARTEDLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK!

Taking Charge: Making the Right Choices
Published in Paperback by Avery Penguin Putnam (August, 1993)
Author: Perry M. Smith
Average review score:

Taking Charge has been updated--Rules and Tools for Leaders
I have rewritten and updated Taking Charge. It has a new title. Rules and Tools for Leaders. It was published in 1998 and ever since I was interviewed by Katie Curic on the Today Show on 23 February 1999, Rules and Tools has been selling like hot cakes. Even made #2 on the amazon.com best seller list--briefly.

Outstanding book for any supervisor or leader.
MGen Smith uses his vast leadership and management experience in the military to provide real-life examples of the many and varied situations any leader encounters. Even though most of his experience is related to the military, virtually all of what he has to say applies to any type of business or organization. The book is broken down into logical chapters and concludes with some excellent checklists to help address a variety of situations. It makes an excellent book for a new manager or supervisor. In fact, I recently appointed a new supervisor and I loaned him my copy to read. If he uses half of what he learns from the book, he will be successful. Definitely one of the best and most straight-forward how-to books about leadership.

Talking Turkey: And Other Stories of North Carolina's Oddly Named Places
Published in Paperback by John F Blair Pub (April, 2000)
Authors: Jamie Perry Cox and Tim Rickard
Average review score:

Talking Turkey: And Other Stories of North Carolina's Oddly
This is a delightful and insightful book that is well researched. It has very interesting background on many place names and gives the reader a new understanding on why we have such odd names for many of our towns, etc. I am sure that the same kind of explanations may be applied to place names in many states, not just North Carolina; therefore this book is not just for North Carolinians!

Humorist approach to funny city names
I am familiar with this author's writings & I always find her stories warm, funny & just a lovely respite between stress attacks. She is a fabulous southern writer. This book is no exception, she humorously explains why certain oddly named cities in North Carolina happened to get their names. this is a great beach read! It is also a fun road book witht he kids!

Tanks for the Memories: Floatation Tank Talks
Published in Paperback by Gateways Books & Tapes (February, 1996)
Authors: Faustin Bray, Lee Perry, E. J. Gold, and John Cunningham Lilly
Average review score:

An incredible amount of effort went into this book
If I had just skimmed through this book I would swear that this book was made specifically for use in completely reorienting the wiring in your average eight year olds biocircutry. Not only that it has been written in a style which should technically be understandable by your average eight year old... with an understanding in psychology, philosophy, and mysticism. Of course I am only kidding but goodness me this book really changed my understanding for the uses of an isolation tank apart from the other writings of Lilly's. Seriously I can't imagine a book more straight to the point blunt and clear. Remember " In the province of the mind what one believes to be true either is true or becomes true within limites to be found experientially."

imaginative
enlightening words about remarkable experiences that most can only imagine. Treated with respect and near reverence by an editor that takes the time to know her subject and her material.

Very impressive!

The Treasure on Orchard Hill
Published in Paperback by Nethope Publishing (15 September, 1999)
Authors: Georgia Robbins and Charles Perry Jr.
Average review score:

pre-teens will love it....and adults too!
This story is a great way for the kids of today to see what life was like in the early 1900's during the depression. The story is based on real life experiences...what better way to learn? Good plot will keep your attention...I read it in two sittings!

Exciting! With Action and Mystery!
Just completed reading The Treasure of Orchard Hill, and that is what it will always be to me...a treasure! It held my interest from beginning to end; was exciting, with action and mystery. And, of course, having visited the farm many times as a child, I was busy (in my mind's eye) viewing each area described, and with great curiosity, attempting to connect the characters to real persons. I loved it and I think it would be a great book for childrn, since the main character is an eleven year old girl. I believe it would certainly keep a child's interest, especially since most children love mysteries. Looking forward to your next book. Ann Craig
